Windows Screens (Logos) LOGO.SYS is the Windows startup screen. It is in the root directory of the booting drive or in the Windows directory. The Shutdown screen is LOGOW.SYS and LOGOS.SYS is the logo when you restart. These last two are located in the Windows directory. You can modify these screens to your taste. Modifying LOGO.SYS/LOGOW.SYS/LOGOS.SYS If you cannot see the files, then using Explorer, go under the menu View, choose Options. Select "Show All Files". First backup the originals. They must be 320 x 400 in 256 colors bitmap format. Although the real size displayed is larger (640x480, 800x600 dependant on your screen size), Win9x will stretch these logo files when displaying them. Create your new artwork with the above specs and name the files LOGO.SYS or LOGOW.SYS/LOGOS.SYS and place them in their appropriate locations. If you cannot see the LOGO.SYS file even after changing Explorer (see above), then it is embedded in the IO.SYS file. In that case, just place your newly created LOGO.SYS in the root directory. It will take precedence over the embedded file. NEVER remove the IO.SYS file.
